Eight years ago, The Gypsy Wagon opened on Henderson Avenue, aiming for an eclectic assortment of fashion, home goods, and gifts available at a range of price points. Owner Carley Seale scouted Dallas for months for her boutique’s location before finding their Henderson spot, falling in love with the “funky, off the beaten path” area, she says. The store now claims a talented team of 23 staffers, and Carley loves the way everyone works together. She says they intend to cater to a “boho state of mind” and a clientele who “exemplify a nomadic spirit, love for nature, and … strong heart. ”
The Gypsy Wagon loves to support local artists and designers as often as they can, like Gresham jewelry, spotlighting handmade items with a great story behind them. In addition to their colorful collection of home goods (candles, décor, etc.) and women’s wear, they carry men’s and children’s clothing and accessories. The variety of women’s brands is vast, Wildfox, Rory Becca, Chaser, CP Shades, Tiare Hawaii, Bobi, Gentle Fawn, Gypsy 05, and Jen’s Pirate Booty to name a few.
The overall “boho” style of the store is light, colorful, and fun. Head buyer, Molly McBride, sites the “ultimate bohemian babe,” Stevie Nicks as a big inspiration for the collection. She embraces the perfect Texas-style fashionista-flare, i.e. fringe, hats, and ankle boots. They went with a “70’s feel for Fall,” including flares, velvet, shearling, and more fringe. Last spring they also expanded into swimwear as well.
Regardless of what you're looking for, be it a cute summer dress and great boots to go with it, or a trendy and unique hostess gift, The Gypsy Wagon has great, distinctive options for everyone.
